CANDID RÜTTER

A KIND MACHINE is the outcome of my two-month residency WE PRODUCE at Lichthof Theater Hamburg. I set out to explore the human relationship to technological systems. Over the course of the residency, I developed a method for approaching this question through the dispositions inherent in found objects.

Every object is made of different materials, has its own history, and is connected to multiple semiotic systems. What stories can they tell us when we place them together on a stage?

For the showing we created a two-part theater piece that explores this inner world of objects, first through the medium of film, then through live theater. Without any human being on stage, the piece examines the relationship between us and the technological systems we find ourselves in.
